Basil: Timesheets

You can create Timesheets for tracking billable hours and payrolling employee worked time. In addition to logging time through Tasks, you can use Timesheets for tracking administrative-related activities, such as meetings or answering calls, and have the ability to give each activity a specific code through Categories to be used for better reporting.

Creating a Timesheet:

Click the ‘Timesheets’ tab at the top of Basil to view your existing Timesheets, if any. Click ‘+Add’ at the top-right to create a new Timesheet. Select the applicable Client or your internal My Firm Workspace. Once the Timesheet is created, you cannot edit the 'Choose Client' selection. Please ensure these are accurate before saving.

Add a category and the amount of time worked. Click on ‘Save’ to save this time sheet and add it to the chart. Or click on ‘Save and Add More’ to save this timesheet and begin adding another one.

You will then see your Timesheet in the chart where you can filter on its data and scroll to the right to see more.

For Timesheets with billable Categories, Basil will calculate the billable amount by using the hour and minutes worked and multiplying by the assigned user’s billing rate (as set in the People tab in the Team Members subtab).

Once the Timesheet has been created, the logged information and time will also be shown on a new ‘Log Time’ Task for that Client, viewable through the Tasks tab in the Spreadsheet view. From there, you can use the hours logged there to create Invoices through the Invoicing tab.

Adding Categories:

You can click the Categories subtab to add more billable and non-billable Category types, which will show up in the Category field when creating Timesheets.
