Requesting an Upload

If you need to request a file from someone, you can use the Email Upload Link feature to get the document(s) you need. It provides a secure and simple way to request files from individuals who do not need a Basil account for long-term access. It will also make it simpler for you, as the Account Owner, to ask your users who have joined your Basil platform for an upload of documents in a specific folder.

To request an upload:

First, go to the “Files” tab at the top of Basil and navigate to the Client folder where the file needs to be uploaded.

While inside the desired folder, click the top-right ‘Actions’ menu and select the ‘Email Upload Link’ button.

You can also use the 3-dot menu of any folder in Basil to request that user’s upload files to that particular folder.

This will then display the new contact information page. Here you can enter the First Name, Last Name, and Email Address of the person who needs to submit the file. If there is more than one person who needs to submit a file to this same folder, you can click on the ‘+ Add More’ option and type in the information of additional people. You can also send the person a message to provide additional information or instructions.

Once you click on ‘Send Email’, this will send the person a secure one-time use link to the designated email address.

The user will also need to fill out a verification code before being able to upload their files to the platform. This code will be emailed to them separately.

Sending Files to be Downloaded

When you need to give someone access to a file in the Basil platform, you can do so with a secure download link. Similar to the upload link, this will be a secure, one-time use-only link that allows them to download the specific file.

To send a download link:

First, go to the location of the file that the user needs to download and click on the file’s 3-dot menu.

From the menu, select ‘Email Download Link’.

Here you can enter the First Name, Last Name, and email address of the person who needs to access the file. If there is more than one person who needs to download the file, you can click on the ‘+ Add More’ option and enter the information for the additional people.

Once you click on ‘Send Email’, this will send the person a secure one-time use link to the designated email address.

The user will also need to fill out a verification code before being able to upload their files to the platform. This code will be emailed to them separately.
