The Basil platform offers document summarization for any PDF document and eSignature PDF document that has been uploaded. This powerful tool will help users save valuable time and energy by leveraging advanced AI technology to summarize the contents of a document, thus eliminating the need to read the entire document word for word.
This amazing tool comes free with your Basil subscription, but it is not turned on by default. You will need to enable the feature to start using it.
To Enable AI Document Summarization:
Log in to your Basil Account Owner account and click on your profile dropdown menu at the top-right. Then select ‘Settings’.
On the settings page, expand the “AI” subcategory and click on ‘Enable’.
Using Document Summary with PDF Documents:
To use the AI Summary feature with a PDF document, first navigate to the “Files” tab of Basil and locate the file you wish to summarize. Click on the document’s 3-dot menu, then select “Summarize with AI”.
The screen will turn grey as it processes your command. When it is completed you will see a “Document summarized successfully” notification on the screen.
Once you get this notification, it may look like nothing happened. You’ll need to open the file’s 3-dot menu again and see the newly available options “View Summary” and “Export Summary”.
“View Summary” will let you see the document’s summary in a pop-up window.
The “Export Summary” option will create a new PDF in the same folder as the original document and will contain the same summary information as the “View Summary” pop-up window. The export option allows you to easily share the summary with other users.
Using Document Summary for eSignatures:
When you have initiated a eSignature for someone to sign, they too can also leverage the power of the Document Summary tool for any document you have asked them to sign.
When they proceed to start the eSignature, they will now have an additional option during signing to “Summarize with AI”.
When the signee clicks the “Summarize with AI” option it will create a summary of the document and will display it in a pop-up window similar to the “View Summary” option mentioned above.
After the signature has been completed, anyone who has access to the file will be able to have the same “View Summary” and “Export Summary” options available to them via the file’s 3-dot menu since a summary request was made for the file already.
