Basil: Creating Client Custom Fields, Notes, and Client Data Fields

Creating Custom Fields for the List View

In the People tab with the List view selected, you can customize the columns to display additional fields pertaining to the Client, such as Industry, Year End Date, and Client Number. This is separate from the Client Data section in the same table that is designed for extra secure information such as passwords and tax numbers.

While logged in as the Account Owner, go to the People tab with the List view selected and click ‘Custom Fields’.

You can add, edit, and reorder the column names with this screen. Be sure to click the floppy disk icon after typing in the field name.

Once defined, you and team members can view the newly created columns in the People tab. To edit the data for each Client, click the three-dot Actions button across from the Client row and click Edit.

There will be a ‘Custom Fields’ section below. This section will also show when adding a new Client going forward.

Adding Notes to a Client

You can add notes in paragraph format to your Clients. This can be useful for logging miscellaneous information such as meetings or call logs with the client. In the People tab with the List view selected, click the Notes button.

Now you can add notes as needed as well as edit or delete previous notes.

Adding Secure Information to Client Data

You may store sensitive information such as passwords and tax numbers for each Client, called ‘Client Data’. Although your data in Basil is safe and secure, there is an extra layer of encryption for this information in the People tab with the List view selected.

To define what fields will show when viewing each Client’s Client Data section, while logged in as the Account Owner, go to Settings and select ‘Client Settings’ and then ‘Client Data Template’. You can toggle ‘Mask Client Data’ to be on if you prefer the data to be initially shown as dots when viewing each Client’s Client Data section.

Once the fields are defined, you and your team can now view and edit the Client Data for each of your Clients in the People tab in the List view.
